1. Personalize Your AccessDance Page. One of the things that make our community the ultimate place for self-expression is that it is easy to personalize your AccessDance page so that it is a direct reflection of you. To start, click on the “Design” button on your admin page. It takes you to the AccessDance design center, which provides up to twelve different design categories that you can customize around. Looking for a quick and dirty design? Click TRY NEW SKINS and pick from the directory of skins created by other members of the community.
2. Input Favorites on Your AccessDance Page. One of the easiest ways to make new friends who have interests similar to you is to fill in the Favorites section of your admin page. To do this, click on the EDIT button on the box labeled “Your Favorites.” Separate each entry with a comma and try to use well defined-terms like Kill Bill for favorite movie versus saying, “I like movies that have a lot of action.” The reason is that when you save your Favorites, those terms enable you to search for other users who like the same movie or have the same hobby as you, and vice-versa. Try it by clicking on the Favorite that you saved.
3. Upload Photos, Videos or Audio. To upload photos to AccessDance , first start by clicking the Photos function at the top portion of any page. If you have a specific photo album that you want to create, click the “CREATE NEW ALBUM” option, give the album a title, set your sharing preferences and write a description of what the album is about. For individual photos, choose the “UPLOAD PHOTOS” option, which will put the photos in a general purpose album. From this page, you can also browse the albums of your friends, as well as those posted community-wide.
4. Invite Friends to Join AccessDance . The quickest and easiest way to make your AccessDance experience better is to invite your friends to join you here online. We make it easy, too, by providing wizards to import your address books from your AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail accounts. To get started, click the Invite function at the top of any page. Invite enough friends who join our community, and we’ll even give you a free AccessDance t-shirt.
5. Browse Other Users on The Network. There are two different ways you can find other people of interest on the network. One is to use the Browse function at the top portion of any page, which takes you to a page where you can search for users by name, age, sexual orientation, geography, whether they are online, etc. The other is by clicking on one of the Favorites entries on any user profile, including your own. This will take you to a directory of users that have listed as one of their favorites the term you clicked on. From this page you can view their profile, send them a message, ping them, look at their friends and pictures, and invite them to be a friend.
   
   
6. Make the Social Connection. AccessDance is an online community where you can express yourself in a myriad of ways, browse people with common interests and hopefully, make a social connection. Find someone of interest that you don’t know but want to? Try these steps. One, you can Ping them. Pinging is a really informal way of saying “Hey.” Short and to the point. If they ping you back, you can invite them to be a friend by clicking on the Add to friends option. Finally, if you want to connect with people instantly, click on the Chat function at the top portion of any page, which launches Chat. Once in Chat, you can use the scroll bar to check out different chat rooms, or you can create your own. Or, you can search for people online, and invite them to instant message (IM) with you. Another great way to make the social connection is by clicking on the Friends function at the top of any page, looking through the list of friends of your friends, and reaching out to people that way. Also, try writing a friendly comment on someone’s AccessDance page.
   
   
7. Join AccessDance Discussion Groups. A great way of connecting with others to discuss topics that you are passionate about is to join a AccessDance discussion group. To do so, click on the Groups function at the top of any page, which will take you to a page where all of the different categories of groups are listed. When you find a group that is interesting to you, click on Join this group. When you feel ready, post a message of your own by choosing the Post Message to Group option. You can create your own groups as well.
   
8. Search Common Interests. Another great way to find people with common interests is by using the Search function. Here you can search keywords, names, emails and more to help you find friends.
   
9. Create a Journal Entry or Blog Post. Want to create a personal journal entry or a public posting that your friends or the whole AccessDance community can read? Then click on the Blog function at the top of any page. Choose Post New Blog, give your post a subject name, set your mood and sharing options, then start writing. Once, saved it is now connected to your AccessDance page.
   
10. Show Off Your AccessDance Email Address. Could there be an email address better than yourname@ AccessDance? Of course not, so start using it but clicking the Email function at the top of any page. You can even set up your AccessDance email account to retrieve email from your external accounts, making it the perfect unified web based email service.

What are the privacy settings all about?

Throughout the site, we give you an opportunity to decide who you'd like to share various pieces of information with. For instance, every time you create a new photo album, you get to choose whether to keep it private, share it with friends or publish it so anyone can see it.

• Share with the world = Open to anyone on the internet (even non-members)
• Share with friends = Open to people on your friends list (must be a AccessDance member)
• Keep private = Just for you and no one else

What makes the Admin view, the Friends view and the World view different?

When you sign in, you automatically enter your Admin view. This is where you get an overview of your entire account, access to features and control over your content and privacy settings. Your Photo album, Messages, Journal, Skins, Wish list, Calendar, Reminders, Friends list, Groups and more are located here.

What's the purpose of having different views?

We made the views so you can see how your main page is displayed based on your selected sharing settings.

You can access the different views and change your settings from "Change view," located at the body of your admin page.

How do I make new friends on AccessDance ?

Fostering friendships is fun. Finding interesting people is easy at me.

1. Go to the browse page
2. Find and view the profile of the person you wish to make friendship with
3. Click on Add to your friends link

One can never have too many friends. You can, however, have too many annoying friends, so before adding someone new, we recommend that you:

• Preview potential friends' profiles to make sure you've got something in common
• Exchange a few words through messaging to get to know new people
• Think carefully about whether you want to include the new person in your friends page party
• Trim and edit your friends list from time to time, preserving the quality of your relationships

Somebody's annoying me! What should I do?

It's easy to take care of annoying users. Simply go to the person's page and locate the "Block this user," link. Once the person is on your blocked users list, you're through with them unless you choose to unblock them later.

We remain supportive of each person's right to express themselves but reserve the right to cancel accounts that overstep the bounds of decency. I'm getting a ton of requests for friendship but I'm not interested. What should I do?

If you choose to create an exclusive friends network or simply are not interested in new friends and choose to live in solitude, we can help you.

1. Sign in to your account
2. Select the "settings " from the admin screen
3. From the drop down, click "Update my notification preferences"
4. Locate, "Require users to know my e-mail address before asking for my friendship"
5. From the drop down, change "no," to "yes"

Voila! Now only people who know your email address can interrupt your peaceful life.

Yes, you can go under cover anytime you wish. From the world tab, visit the settings page. Find the statement that reads: Your world page is currently PUBLIC.

I got an error message saying "This account has been locked for 15 minutes due to excessive invalid login attempts." What should I do?

This is for your safety. Either someone has been trying to figure out your password, or you have forgotten it. Wait 15 minutes before trying to log in again. Try the 'Forgot Password' link if you don't remember your password.

My page counter keeps going up, but the last 15 people who visited my page don't seem to be changing as much as it should. What's going on?

In order for people to show up in your 'Last 15 People Who Visited Your Profile' they must be logged in. If they visit your page while they're not logged in, they will not show up there, but your page counter will go up.

Find and view the profile of the person you wish to leave a comment. Then simply click 'Post a comment on this page' in their content box.

You might be trying to upload an invalid file type. To upload photos make sure they are either in .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png format.
